Hartman has been a project controls professional for more than 20 years and has led project controls teams in both the public and private sectors of the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. He has extensive experience throughout the project lifecycle, from early conceptual planning through design/engineering to construction and operation of an asset. Hartman has a BS in industrial studies/construction management from Moorhead State University (Minnesota) and is a Certified Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) with the Association for Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE). He is an active member of AACE, the Project Management Institute (PMI), Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), and the Project Management College of Scheduling (PMCOS). Hartman’s Primavera experience includes Primavera P6 Professional & EPPM, Primavera Contract Management, Unifier, OPPM, Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA/Pertmaster).
Currently he is managing the construction schedules for over 120 electrical substation construction projects totaling approximately $250 million. Additionally he has served on the Board of Habitat For Humanity Fresno County as President for ten years, and served on the Board of the American Institute of Architects – San Joaquin as Vice President and President.
During 2007-2009 he was been one of the principal members of a team which implemented Primavera Contract Manager and Project Scheduling (P6) Software for projects the Department of Public Works for use on Construction and Consulting Contracts. He has given numerous papers at APWA, OUAG, and Oracle OpenWorld conferences on the Primavera deployment at the Durham Department of Public Works, including the interfaces that the team developed to ERSI GIS, and other applications.
At Gafcon, John has successfully assisted public and private clients implement program control solutions to up to more than $6B worth of construction values. He has also delivered enterprise business solutions in large and complex environments, at Cisco, Nissan, Gateway and similar companies, but has also worked hands-on in start-up companies and environments. John makes the complex simple.
John has a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland and BSc Photographic Technology, Westminster University, London.
